Journey to The Four Season

Ini cuma sharing tugas bahasa inggrisku, disuru buat essay pendek tentang alam dan bagaimana perasaan aku tentang alam! Enjoy~

We don’t have 4 seasons in my country. It’s always been sunny hot summers and rain with strong winds. We never experience snow in Indonesia. So when I got to Alaska I am very excited to experience snow and winter. I’ve always thought that Alaska would be full of ice and snow but it’s actually not. Well in the spring and summer they don’t have snow yet. I arrived in Anchorage in August so there wasn’t any snow yet.

I could see the sun shining even if I couldn’t feel the warmth. I feel the wind trying to get it’s way through me, yet I still feel that the so called warm breeze really cold. Since that’s not warm to me because warm and hot here and in Indonesia, another part of the world is unbearably different.

After a while I get used to summer in Alaska which is 66 degrees (and still cold for me), but in September fall comes to make fun of me. The temperature drops and not exactly too low but in my perspective is way cold than I’ve ever feel all my life. I really enjoy observing the trees changing color. From green to brown and golden like complexion, it didn’t stay too long. It eventually just fall off, meaning that winter is chasing behind us.

This year people say that it’s not too cold because it didn’t start to snow until late November. Again, I’ve never seen snow before so any snow any time could be awesome for me to experience. Yet again I regret my wish. When the first snow fell, it was really pouring hard. Big chunks of fluffy soft snow dropping from the dark low clouds. After a few minutes it stops and we could see the snow that was built on the ground. I feel the need of buying a new coat since the cold is unexpectedly really cold.

My first experience with snow was in a Saturday morning. I went to Bean’s cafe to do some volunteering work just a day after Thanksgiving. It’s still dark outside but I could see the snow fall clearly. After 5 hours of volunteering I walked out and my boots starts to sink in the thick snow. Snow and cold is a great combination to make my dad’s car to freeze up and made it hard to open the door. It was stuck and when I finally opened it, there’s a big blob of ice dropping out. It’s new to me to have the car doors stuck of the cold and ice.

The afternoon I got home, I decided to go play in the snow for the first time. I don’t have enough or the proper snow gear. So I just jumped outside with my jeans, glove, coat and boots. I ran out and laid down in my front yard, now full with snow. I tried to make a snow angel and ended up having snow covering up my face. The touch of snow on my skin feels slightly shocking but after a while I could bare with it and accepting the touch.

This is not even half of my exchange year but I’ve experienced 3 out of the 4 season here in the United States. Really eager to experience my last season I’d enjoy here which is spring.
